ECT Consulting deploys and manages Linux in production — from single-server deployments to multi-site enterprise fleets. We work across the full enterprise Linux ecosystem and understand the real tradeoffs between distributions, support models, and licensing when it counts.

Distributions We Support

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) remains the gold standard for regulated and mission-critical environments. We deploy, upgrade, and support RHEL across bare-metal, virtualized, and cloud-hosted deployments.

Ubuntu Server is our primary platform for new deployments. Its LTS stability, strong Canonical support, and deep integration with Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes make it the natural fit for most modern infrastructure work.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) remains a strong choice for SAP-intensive and manufacturing environments, and we support it where clients are already running it.

AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux have matured into solid, production-ready RHEL-compatible platforms. For organizations still running CentOS 7 or 8, they're the most straightforward migration path — full binary compatibility with RHEL, without the licensing complexity that drove the move away from CentOS.

Automation & Configuration Management

Manually configured servers don't scale, and they don't survive staff turnover. ECT Consulting builds Ansible playbooks and inventories that bring every server in your fleet under version-controlled automation that enforces a known-good state — from initial provisioning through ongoing patch management and configuration drift correction. Every change is repeatable, auditable, and applied consistently across the environment, not handled ad hoc on individual hosts.

We integrate monitoring and alerting as part of the automation layer — SNMP, health checks, and resource alerting wired into your existing NOC tooling — so configuration management and operational visibility are part of the same system, not separate afterthoughts.

Security & Hardening

ECT Consulting hardens production systems to CIS Benchmarks — SSH configuration, kernel parameter tuning, mandatory access controls (SELinux/AppArmor), unnecessary service removal, and audit logging — paired with a defined patch management cadence so security updates are applied on schedule, not reactively after an incident.

For internet-facing systems, we add intrusion detection and brute-force protection (fail2ban, host-based firewalls) and ensure logs are centralized and retained for incident response.

Identity Integration

Local accounts scattered across dozens of servers are a liability — nobody can say who has access to what, and offboarding a user means hunting across every box individually. ECT Consulting integrates Linux servers into hybrid Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID environments using SSSD and realmd, giving you centralized authentication, group-based sudo policy, and a single place to manage access across your entire mixed Windows/Linux estate.

This is one of our deepest areas of expertise: nearly three decades of hybrid identity work means we design Linux identity integration that holds up under audit, not just one that works in a demo.
